Book Review: The Truths We Hold: An American Journey by Kamala Harris
Through an anecdotal style, Harris articulates the clearest and most common-sense policy you will find anywhere. On issues including law enforcement, education, drug and prison reform, banking, and immigration, the reader is sure to see a coherent vision of the most effective means of pursuing the American Dream. It’s not often that you find something written by a politician that leaves you feeling more affirmed in our common humanity and knowing there are more rational solutions to seemingly intractable problems. The author also narrates the audio book version herself, and listening to that enhances the content.
This book review is being written in June 2019, at which time Kamala Harris is one of the several candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. Although Joe Biden is the current front runner, Harris is a serious contender; and even if Harris does not end up as the nominee, the policies presented in this book are worthy of inclusion in the Democratic presidential platform. Regardless of the outcome in 2020, this book is worth your time—before and after.
