Judge it by the results manifested. If that’s true for the “hard” disciplines such as engineering, it’s even more true for the “soft” disciplines such as socioeconomics. One doesn’t have to be an expert in monetary, tax, or regulatory policy to objectively discern whether any of those is delivering as promised. What’s “fair” might be a “soft” issue, but what’s effected is a more easily observed “hard” indicator.
